Week Starting Monday 12th August 2024

🎉 Merriwa Shared Pathway Fundraising Update! 🎉

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve now raised $𝟒𝟔,𝟏𝟖𝟒.𝟑𝟖! We’re just $𝟏𝟑,𝟖𝟏𝟓.𝟔𝟐 away from our $𝟔𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 goal! This amazing support will help cover ALL the residential co-contributions required by the Upper Hunter Shire Council. Right now, we can only cover a partial payment for affected residents, many of whom are pensioners. Our goal is to provide the full amount and ease their burden.

A huge thank you to 𝐄𝐚𝐭 @ 𝟏𝟓𝟑, 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐰𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐲, 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐰𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 and 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐎’𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧 for their generous contributions. Your support is truly making a difference!

We understand that times are tough with the current cost of living, but every little bit helps and has a big impact on those being charged. If you can’t contribute financially, please share our posts and help spread the word.

Thanks to everyone who has donated, contributed cans and bottles to the Men’s Shed for the 10c recycling, bought raffle tickets, dropped spare change in our donation tins, and shared our posts. Your support is bringing us closer to our goal every day.

The Merriwa Men’s Shed is still collecting 10c recyclables, so keep those coming in! We encourage all residents to donate their 10c recyclables to the Men’s Shed—every bottle and can helps us get closer to our goal.

This pathway will connect key locations in our community, including the CBD, sports facilities, aged care hostel, and schools, enhancing safety and accessibility for all residents and visitors.

You can still donate through our GoFundMe page at https://gofund.me/4a789411or directly to the Merriwa and District Chamber of Commerce:
– Bank: Regional Australia Bank
– BSB: 932 000
– Account: 100 498 003
– Account Name: Merriwa and District Chamber of Commerce

Let’s bridge the remaining $13,815.62 gap and make Merriwa an even better place to live and visit. Thank you all for your incredible support—let’s keep the momentum going!

The annual celebration of automotive culture, which has become a cornerstone event for car enthusiasts and families alike, is set to take place on a new date this year, Saturday 17th August 2024.

This year, the Sandy Hollow Motorfest isn’t just about showcasing classic cars, cutting-edge modifications, and the spirit of motoring; it’s also about making a significant impact in the lives of those affected by multiple sclerosis. MS Australia is the leading national organization supporting individuals and their families living with this chronic condition, and the Motorfest is proud to contribute to their invaluable work.

Event Details:
– Date: 17th August 2024
– Location: Sandy Hollow Showgrounds
– Activities: Car Show, Lawnmower Demonstrations , Family Entertainment, Charity Auction, and more!

The Sandy Hollow Motorfest has always been more than a car show. It’s a day for the community to come together, enjoy shared passions, and now, support a vital cause. All proceeds from ticket sales, auctions, and donations during the event will go directly to MS Australia, aiding in research, support services, and advocacy efforts for people with multiple sclerosis.

“We are honored to partner with MS Australia for this year’s Motorfest. It’s an opportunity for the motoring community to drive positive change and support those in need,” said Mick Turner, head of the Sandy Hollow Motorfest committee. “We invite everyone to mark their calendars for 17th August 2024, for what promises to be an unforgettable day of cars, community, and charity.”

The Motorfest committee encourages attendees to come out in full force to not only enjoy the day’s festivities but also to contribute to a cause that makes a real difference. Whether you’re a car enthusiast, looking for a family day out, or wanting to support the fight against multiple sclerosis, the Sandy Hollow Motorfest is the place to be.
