Our Men’s Shed had its beginning in 2007 with a visit to the Grenfell Shed by Des Fox, John Shipway, John Alderson and Jim Alker.   Len Wallace, a founding member of Grenfell, was able to advise the best way forward with one simple message – ” keep it simple”.  Initially the early gatherings were in the museum portion of the Tourist Welcoming Centre and were basically limited to social chat, coffee and lunch.  An application for a grant was put together by John Shipway and was successful in 2009. The new building was attached to the rear of the Welcoming Centre and contains a big work shop area and separate meeting, social and kitchen room – lined and air conditioned. As we progressed we have been able to put together many good tools and equipment, including  both  wood and metal lathes.  The location in the middle of the CBD and being part of the TWC complex is ideal and unique in that it serves the interests of both men and women and their hobbies under one roof.
