Push Up Challenge

It’s Push-Up Challenge time again!! Follow Darren’s progress here

” Hi All,

I’m on day 18 and 2,183 push-ups in!

This has definitely been a challenge for me so far. Between work and family commitments, unwell children (kindly shared with my wife and I) and aching muscles, I am determined to keep pushing up for the pathway!

This challenge is all about mental health awareness, and self compassion is a fundamental step in order to help others.

“Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love.” — Brene Brown

Thank you Michael for your generous donation and help in keeping me motivated to push on!

Please show your support by making a donation via the link below!

——-
Stigma surrounding poor mental health means many people don’t think it applies to them, so are less likely to educate themselves, perpetuating low mental health literacy and leading to a lack of awareness of treatment and support options. This highlights the continued need for mental health education. With high levels of mental health literacy, individuals are more likely to be able to recognise signs of psychological distress in themselves and those around them. They are also better equipped to identify support options and seek the appropriate treatment.

Please show your support to our locals that have been negatively impacted financially, by sponsoring me via the link below.
——-
This year all money raised goes toward the shared pathway fund.

Pressures brought on by financial hardship can contribute to poor mental health, so my push for mental health this year is to help support our locals!

I’ll be completing 3,144 push-ups from the 1st to the 23rd of June, that’s around 137 per day! This will be a challenge as I’m certainly not conditioned for it (yet) so please get behind me and show your support for our locals!

If your able to make a donation, please conside doing so here – https://gofund.me/459c1674

200 Years of History

A BOOK ABOUT MERRIWA – 1824 – 2023

The Merriwa History Book is coming along fine with some fantastic photos and lots of text on the 200 years of our history.

I’m still waiting for some information and photos to come to light. Some of the feelers that have gone out have yielded some really good information and photos.

We are on schedule to get the book to the publishers in early October.

Elaine has applied for several grants but this year there has been almost nothing coming through.

A couple of years ago, Elaine published 75 years of the Pony Club and sponsorship was easy to obtain.

For those who still wish to sponsor a page for $50 which details your families name at the bottom of the page, the details are : Cash and/or cheque can be left in an envelope with your name on front at Di’s Clothing Patch.

Direct debit details are :Regional Australia Bank, B.S.B. 932000. Account No 100263994.

Larger donations would see your details in the Major Sponsors section of the book.

Cheques made payable to Rotary Club of Merriwa.

If you wish to order a book, please ring Elaine Sparrow on 0427488560 to be placed on the list.

MERRIWA SHARED PATHWAY

Want to get out in the fresh country ☀️ air of Merriwa, whilst exercising 👟 & learning a thing or two about your surrounds? Then a walk 🏃‍♀️🏃 around the Merriwa Shared Pathway should be on your to-do list!

We teamed up with Upper Hunter Shire Council to deliver some beautiful and educational interpretive signage around the new pathway. The six signs around the township highlight important parts of the natural ecosystem, it’s flora & fauna; including the critically endangered Box-Gum Grassy Woodland of the Merriwa Plateau.

Join former 😥 Natural Resource Management (NRM) team member Catherine who has been at the heart of this project and Community Engagement Officer, Lori as they take you on a trip around Merriwa’s latest attraction!

We’d also like to take this opportunity to wish Catherine all the best for her new venture, continuing her career in Box Gum Grassy Woodland conservation that she is so passionate about. Catherine leaves a strong legacy at Hunter LLS, and particularly in the Merriwa community with the projects she has championed over the past four years. You will be missed, Catherine! 💚
