Rosemary for Legacy
A huge THANK YOU to the amazing girls and chaps from Merriwa Rotary for helping harvest the Rosemary again this year. Your enthusiastic assistance is much appreciated. Today we sent off 3 pallets of fresh Rosemary to Sydney where it will be processed by the ‘Beehive industries’ into sprigs to be worn in the Anzac day march and raising money for the Legacy charity which cares for our veteran’s families.
Thanks also to Michael O’Neill, Merriwa RSL club who kindly allow us to store the smelly boxes!, Merriwa IGA for the fork lift action, Merriwa CRT for lending us the wrapper, George and Rowan Rodgers, and the kind locals who helped supply a wonderful crop of Rosemary.
Such a great community effort and you have all helped Merriwa to continue to be the ‘Rosemary town’

Merriwa Shared Pathway
GO FUND ME CAMPAIGN
If you love Merriwa and feel that rural people deserve better then please donate.
Help us send a message to our local council and all levels of government that they can and must do better.
Your donation will be used to pay the extra council imposed charges on residents located on the shared pathway network.
Background
In July 2021 the NSW Government awarded a grant of $922,674 to construct a 4km network of shared pathways to connect key locations in the Merriwa township.
These are the first new pathways built in Merriwa in over 20 years and is a popular project that will improve health and safety in our community.
Unfortunately the Upper Hunter Shire Council (UHSC) would only let the project proceed if it could charge ~25 residents located along the route of the pathway. They have rejected all other funding solutions presented by the Merriwa community.
Several of the residents are pensioners and have neither planned nor budgeted for these costs which are causing some distress.
The Merriwa Chamber of Commerce supported by many community groups is coordinating the fundraising efforts.
In the event that funds raised are surplus to requirements they will be used to enhance and beautify the shared pathway.
“In times of turmoil it is important that people feel that they are part of a supportive community”
Please support this worthy cause and stand with the people of Merriwa as they right this wrong.

You can also make a direct donation: BSB: 932 000 Acc: 100 498 003
Acc Name: Merriwa and District Chamber of Commerce.
You will also find donation tins in many of the local businesses.
