GETTING TO AND FROM MERRIWA
Merriwa is approximately 4 hours driving time from Sydney either by the M1, The Hunter Expressway and The Golden Highway, or from Western Sydney via The Putty Road. Merriwa is between 2 ¼ and 2 ½ hours driving time from the regional centres of Newcastle, Tamworth and Dubbo.
Travelling by Bus and Coach:
Merriwa has a daily return Community Bus Service to Muswellbrook and Scone Monday to Friday operated by TransCare Hunter Limited and a Coach Service to Dubbo and Newcastle on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, operated by Sid Fogg’s Coachlines. See the Timetable below for times and details.

Train Services
The nearest Railway Stations are at Muswellbrook and Scone which are serviced by NSW TrainLink trains. Visit www.transportnsw.info
Hunter Line Commuter Trains operate between Scone and Newcastle Interchange via Muswellbrook with up to 4 return services on week days and 2 at weekends. All Hunter Line trains from Scone and/or Muswellbrook to Newcastle Interchange connect with Central Coast and Newcastle Line trains to Sydney at Hamilton.
These trains are covered by the Opal Card Ticketing system.

Opal Single Trip Tickets can be purchased at Muswellbrook Station when it is staffed, generally during week day mornings until the departure of the North Western Xplorer Train.
Muswellbrook and Scone Stations are also serviced by the NSW TrainLink North Western Xplorer long distance train which runs one train daily each way between Sydney and Armidale and Moree.
This is an all booked direct service to Sydney without the need to change at Hamilton.

By Air
Dubbo, Tamworth and Newcastle Airports are all around 2 hours from Merriwa by road. Dubbo and Tamworth have regular air services to Sydney and Regional Cities in NSW. Newcastle also has Interstate services.
Newcastle Airport is accessible from Merriwa by public transport.
Scone Airport, 45 minutes from Merriwa by road is a General Aviation airport with no scheduled services.
Non-Emergency Medical Transport
Merriwa Non-Emergency Medical Transport convey anyone in the district to medical appointments in the region and to Sydney provided they do not require an Ambulance, using volunteer drivers.
