A huge thank you to Merriwa and especially all of you that helped to ensure a very successful ANZAC Day.

Our community showed up and paid their respects to all the veterans – both past and present who have made such incredible sacrifices so we can live in this amazing country. Sacrifices made by men, women and animals.

Special thank you to the Catafalque party from Singleton Army Base, Light Horse, UHSC, VRA, IGA, Merriwa RSL, Ray’s Bistro, Merriwa IGA, Coles & Woolies Muswellbrook, Dahlia & Lucce – wreath makers, Merriwa Central School, St Josephs, Scone Grammar School and all of the local groups, Rod Wicks – Parade Marshall and the Merriwa RSL Sub Branch members.

We need someone to help sell raffle tickets for a few hours on Friday afternoon, April 19th, outside the Merriwa Pharmacy.
 
No tech skills needed, just bring your enthusiasm! We’ll provide you with the paper forms and pens etc, we just ask that you assist will collecting the completed forms and ensuring the correct dollar amount is collected.

FREE DRIVER ACCESS PROGRAM

🚗 Free 6 Week Merriwa Driver access program 🚗
 
Birrang Enterprise Driver Licence Access Program is coming to Merriwa. This program will bring qualified driving instructors who will develop a lesson plan and structure lessons specifically for each individual. We will ensure that each student is developing the skills required for the learner to become a safe and confident driver.
 
You may also be applicable to receive 3hrs in your log book for every 1hr driving lesson (conditions apply).

Merriwa Physical Culture invites you to a night out to have fun, dress up and raise some money for a little girl Sadie 4; who  has been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma. Sadie’s mum Bec is a teacher at Gunnedah Physie and is apart of our New England Zone Physie Family, and we would like to show our support.

The night will begin with dinner and drinks at 6.45pm, so please arrive before this time.

Bingo will commence at 7.30pm and we will be entertained by Beverly Fabulosity, our Local Drag Queen.
 
Tickets are $35 each. This includes dinner, 1 drink and your bingo tickets for the evening.
 
The meals will be alternate drop of a hamburger and chips and a chicken schnitzel, chips and salad.
 
There will be a raffle, lucky door, as well as coin roll and a game or two. Don’t forget your bingo dauber or Texta’s to play along.
 
Beverly will have some for sale on the night.

Hunter Local Land Services 

WOODLAND BIRDS, MISTLETOE & ART IN NATURE WORKSHOPS

Step into the local habitat area of the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater for a unique workshop!

Hear from woodland bird & mistletoe experts of Birdlife Australia, Mick Roderick & Kristy Peters, have all your burning questions answered in a Q&A session with the pair, enjoy a field trip to gather nature samples that will then form the basis of a class with award-winning artist, Jenny McCracken to practices using sketching for notes & identification of plants & animals in the field! 

Attend part of or all of the day’s activities.

SHEEP DOG SCHOOL – CASSILIS

We are excited to be working with Peter Crowe of Macelbri Kelpies, Timor to bring to the Upper Hunter for this one-day sheep dog training school in Cassilis.

Designed for the intermediate-expert dog trainer, these dog training schools are designed to boost your dog’s skills in the yard and in the paddock. You will learn tips and tricks on how to get the best out of your dog.

*Two dogs per participant. All dogs must be parvo vaccinated in the last 12 months – proof will need to be provided.

In the interest of sheep welfare, biting dogs are expected to be muzzled. Fence-sitters welcome – all levels!

Limited positions are available and you must live in the Upper Hunter region.

Each week Upper Hunter Shire Council prepares a report detailing the work that our infrastructure crews plan to deliver in the coming week. 

Scheduled work is merely an indication of what we intend to undertake and is not a guarantee of work being carried out. As factors such as weather, resource availability and unexpected needs can impact Councils priorities for the coming week.
