Merriwa Auslan Signing Stars
A social meet-up for locals who want to learn and practice Auslan (Australian Sign Language). All ages, skills and abilities welcome.
Thank you to those people who have joined the society in recent months as a result of new interest in the project.
Jason Garland has decided to step down from his role as president of the society for personal reasons, but he is planning to continue to carry out vegetation management work at the station whenever he can.
As a result, the society is looking to bring in some new people to full roles in the committee. We need to find a President and up to 5 Committee members to ensure that the society has sufficient depth to achieve its goals well into the future
Are you willing to fill a role or recommend someone? Then please make contact by sending me a private message, or by email: info@merriwarailwaysocietyinc.com.au and I will be able to fill you in on what will be required. Open to Members and those wanting to join
Merriwa Physical Culture will open it’s doors for the first time in January 2024.
We take pride in offering an open and welcoming environment for girls and women ages 2 and up to acquire a variety of skills that provide physical, social, and emotional well-being.
Rotary Merriwa has a long running program to recycle glasses which are no longer needed. For many years our club has been collecting such spectacles….multi-focal, long distance and reading.
We forward them to Recycle for Sight which has them graded by qualified optometrists before being dispatched to places overseas where the majority of people cannot, otherwise, afford to pay for them.
We estimate the dollar value of glasses donated by our Merriwa / Cassilis community to be well over $100,000.
Many newcomers to our community are probably unaware of this service.
Anyone with glasses no longer needed can leave them at MERRIWA PHARMACY.
